PS4 NOMORE :(

Now, here is something that we can possibly mourn about. Well, it is not about a death but it may as well be. There won’t be a PlayStation 4 or whatever you may want to call Sony’s supposed next-gen console – not anytime soon. For a time, Sony Computer Entertainment has somehow managed to keep away from the rumors surrounding its alleged next-gen console

Everyone else had dubbed the upcoming console as PS4, logically following the PS3. Just last week, trade site MCV even reported that the PlayStation 4 will be announced at this year’s E3 in Los Angeles. This is where Sony steps in. Sony Computer Entertainment and Sony Corp. have now staunchly denied the report. SCE’s Andrew House is quoted saying, “I don’t think we’re contemplating talking about anything to do with future console iterations at this point.”

Even Sony’s Kaz Hirai said something of the same effect: “Andy (House) is absolutely right in that we are not making any announcements at E3. I’ve always said a 10-year life cycle for PS3, and there is no reason to go away from that.” Sony is not going to announce and release a next-gen console just for the sake of competing with other companies. Nintendo’s Wii U will be at the June expo. There are also strong expectations that Microsoft’s Xbox 360 will be announced at E3. PS4 would make a perfect roundup but it is not meant to be. Sony has promises to keep, it seems. The PS3 has been designed to stand the test of time. Other companies are relying on its longevity.
