A follow-up to 2010's Black Ops has always been the most popular
rumour for this year's Call Of Duty, and it's looking more likely with
every passing rumour. The latest centres on retailer Amazon's French
website, who put up listings for Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2 and then
quickly took them down again.
Apparently Activision has been so upset about the leak that they've
banned French websites that reported it from press events and refused to
send them any future review copies. We've no idea if that's true, but
it sounds odd given that the Black Ops 2 rumours have been going for
months now - with the most recent evidence being Activision's
registering of a
Black Ops 2 website.
The
rumours specifically point to a prequel to the first game, focusing on
the early adventures of CIA operative Frank Woods. As if the Amazon
listing wasn't enough, a new mention of the game was also found on a
developer's online CV over the weekend.
Hugo Beyer of Nerve Software listed Black Ops 2 on his LinkedIn profile,
before also quickly removing it. Nerve has helped out with ports and
multiplayer maps for a number of Activision titles in the past,
including Wolfenstein 3D, Quantum Of Solace, and, wouldn't you know it,
Call Of Duty: Black Ops.
It's not the only Call Of Duty game doing the rounds on the rumourmill
at the moment though, with Sony's Guy Longworth, who's just become
senior vice president of PlayStation brand marketing, confirming that a
version of Call Of Duty will be appearing on the PS Vita this autumn.
'Of course in the autumn, they're really looking forward to Call of Duty on Vita,' he said of his two sons, to website
GameTrailers. 'We think that's going to be an absolute game-changer for the platform.'
Whatever
the game is it could indeed have a profound effect on the PS Vita's
fortunes in the West, even if it's just a version of Black Ops 2 (or
whatever this year's game is). If it's something even more unique to the
Vita then you could be looking at a kingmaker on the scale of Monster
Hunter in Japan.

Pokemon Black And White 2 Announced For DS
During a recent episode of the Japanese Pokemon television show, Pokemon Smash, Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda announced a sequel to Pokemon Black and Pokemon White.
The surprise announcement had another odd tidbit of information
attached to it – the game will release solely on the Nintendo DS, as
opposed to the newer tech in the 3DS. The game will release in Japan in
June, but the US date hasn’t yet been confirmed or announced. Masuda
also promised to reveal the names of the legendary Pokemon sometime next
week. It sucks a little wind from the sails of a new Pokemon
game announcement for me personally when there’s a brand new Nintendo
device on the market, but the game will be releasing on the old tech.
But it’s been a pretty short break between new games, so here’s to
hoping that a full 3D Pokemon game isn’t too far off.
ASSASSINS CREED 3
Ubisoft today revealed the box art for Assassin's Creed III . The art confirms earlier suspicions
regarding the game's protagonist and time period. The main character
image matches the design and properties of the yesterday's leaked image.

New trailer and poster for Despicable Me 2
But how do you tease a film without showing the audience a scrap of actual footage, or giving away so much as a single plot detail? You rope in some of your most loveable characters, and get them to sing a song!
Enter the minions, who proceed to perform Barbara Ann by The Beach Boys, in their own inimitable style. Well, we say inimitable, but you’ll probably spend the rest of the morning pissing your colleagues off with your own rendition…
Watch the full Avengers trailer online now
The Avengers, or Marvel Avengers Assemble as its new UK title has it, has revealed a final trailer ahead of its 26 April 2012 release.
It’s hard to believe that a film that we’ve been anticipating since the credits rolled on 2008’s Iron Man is so close to finally being released in cinemas.
And this new trailer has done nothing to diminish our excitement, with Captain America, Thor and the Hulk all getting a look in, not to mention Operation S.H.I.E.L.D. lead by Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury.
The trailer is full to bursting point with goodies, including Iron Man being cool, Black Widow being persuasive and Hulk being, well, angry. To be honest, we didn't expect to see quite so much new footage, and we've been totally blown away by it.
